My Darling,
Expect you were a [sic] disappointed as I over not being able to get home this weekend, but my cold was’nt too good and the weather was very foggy so the train would have been late.
I had an early night last night with two whiskies and hot water plus a large dose of cough mixture and slept under about six blankets, I feel much better now and my cold is nearly

gone. If the weather is better next week and I can get off, as now I am liable for week-end duties I shall come home, it’ll only be Saturday evening and Sunday as getting time off is difficult here. This place is really funny, must have been the original of “much binding in the Marsh” we’ve even got on aeroplane here, theres six huge hangars and its tucked up in one corner, I’ll tell you all about it when I come home.
As regards the laundry, I’m sending off a parcel to you tomorrow. I washed the handkerchiefs as I needed

them but the rest of the stuff I’ll [deleted word] leave for the time being, don’t bother to send it back as I believe you have a clean set of underwear at home now. I did’nt know quite where to send the parcel as you are busy now, however will leave it to you.
I went into York yesterday afternoon, its not far about half an hour on the bicycle, so will be alright for getting back in the mornings. I’ve looked up the trains and one leaves at 2.6. pm so should get into Kings X

about 6 o/c. York is quite an interesting old place, I spent quite an enjoyable afternoon wandering round. They have a very good Y.M.C.A. Officers club, can get plenty of food there its nicely served up and very cheap
By the way, how is the flat going, has the wiring been done yet,? I’ve an idea about your saucepan rack, will measure up when I come home, it might save you bending!
Well, my dearest thats all for the moment, give my love to Mother & Dad.
All my love darling, hope to see you soon.
