Flying [deleted] all right seemed to be all right, but not above [indecipherable word] with ground subjects. [/deleted] [inserted] fairly good. Ground subjects bad – not above [four indecipherable words] education I'd had. One thing learnt – what a [indecipherable word] education I'd had. [/inserted]
With all these types I couldn't get out of the (US Navy) habit of tail-wheel [indecipherable word] [deleted] the [/deleted] [inserted] every [/inserted] touch down. The Stirling (& the [indecipherable word]) loved them & the Lanc (& the rear gunner) didn't – & with the Wellington, I (later) made too many landing in them to remember. [two deleted indecipherable words] [inserted] At HCU I got a 3 [three indecipherable words] [deleted word]
