Dear Mother,

Well, we're off at last. We leave here tonight destination unknown. In a week or two's time I'll be seeing Aunt Annie & Kit. also Christine. You might let Barbara know too, as of course, she doesn't know those people.

Herewith bank book, (whats left of it). Please take the 4/- out of National Savings & put it in the bank. It's much easier that way. Don't forget there should be a 1/2d or 1d interest in it. [indecipherable word]

This is terribly hurried but time is short & I've the deuce of a lot to do. Whew! Talk about old age creeping on. Think of me, walking 3 miles with a [underlined] full [/underlined] pack & kitbag. Oh ye Gods

a little [indecipherable word]. Why did I leave home? I shall be an absolute wreck, I'll be needing a [indecipherable word] (pleasure or otherwise!!) to restore me to health & strength again.

Cheers for now dear. I'll try & dash off a line before I go.

All my love to you, [indecipherable word], & Olive, & be good. Don't go worrying about me. I shall be O.K., you know what my usual retort is to that!!

[indecipherable words]

Your loving Son

P.S. It so good you writing to [indecipherable word]. You'd better save it till[?] I get over.
