Description
Ten airmen and three airwomen, nine standing and four crouching in front, all in front of a four engined bomber. Six airmen have visible brevet, the man front right a pilot, the other five have half brevet. Two of the women wear battledress and the other tunic. Submitted with information 'Royal Air Force air and groundcrew and WAAF personnel in front of a Halifax, WAAFs are at the positions second from left back row, fifth from left back row and third from right back row. The pilot is farthest right in the front row, and wears the rank insignia of a Flying Officer (“Bert” Moore was promoted to Flying Officer in early August 1944), Herbert Tinning is farthest left back row next to “Sass” one of the WAAF personnel'. On the reverse 'Rex, Ginge. Kay, Taffy. Audrey. Bill, Don. Sass. Me.” Front Row (l-r); “Bert, Mick. Mac. Snowy'.
