My dear [underlined] Harold [/underlined],
All of us send you our congratulations & are very pleased that the things which you have done so quietly in true Duggie Wakefield fashion have been noticed by those in authority, & that full appreciation has been made to you by giving you a decoration which in years to come will undoubtedly be one of your most treasured possessions. Not only will you be proud to wear it but it will always remind you of the good fellowship that can be created by sharing good times as well as dangerous ones with boys who you will
[page break]
always remember.
We were just as proud on reading the news as if you had been our own boy & were so overcome with pride & pleasure as your own Mother & Father were.
We phoned them as soon as we read it & were greatly surprised to hear from your Father that they like us had only just read it. They are very proud of you & were overcome with joy.
I guess Gordon will be writing to you as we have of course told him the news in our letter to him to-day.
This 'Honour' will be a great help to you now you are training others to carry on where you left off & we hope you are content.
Very best of luck.
Yours E & C Collier.
