ALDBOROUGH DAIRY AND CAFÉ

MISS BETSIE MUDD BOUGHT THE DAIRY FROM MISS LAWSON-TANCRED IN 1911. HER CHEESE AND BUTTER BECAME RENOWNED AND WON HER MANY PRIZES AT THE BIG DAIRY SHOWS. THE CHEESE AND BUTTER WERE SENT ALL OVER THE COUNTRY BY TRAIN FROM BOROUGHBRIDGE.
THE CAFÉ ALSO BECAME FAMOUS FOR ITS HAM AND EGG TEAS. MANY WELL KNOWN PEOPLE VISITED AS CAN BE SEEN FROM THE VISITORS BOOK.
IT BECAME HOME FROM HOME FOR MANY AIRCREWS DURING THE WAR ESPECIALLY THOSE FROM CANADA.
THE DAIRY FINISHED PRODUCTION IN SEPTEMBER 1960 AND THE CAFÉ CLOSED IN 1968.
