My own Darling, I hope by now that you know I’m still alive & kicking. It looks as if we’ll have to postpone that date in June for a while. I suppose, Sweetheart that you’ve been very worried, but that will be all over by now as I’m still sound in mind and limb I don’t think about home too much as it makes me feel too miserable. But I take out your photo each evening and it makes me feel O.K. I’m so glad I brought it with me. We have enough to eat & its quite good thanks to the Red X. I only hope I don’t come back home with a [indecipherable word] on me. George & Jack are in an officers camp & Ron & Cyril are here with me. Ron is in hospital with a suspected pierced kidney due to a cracked rib. We’ve not heard of Sam or Dave If you see Fred give him my regards. Some of the fellows make some wonderful things out of scrap wood & old tin cans. We are allowed to send 2 letters & 4 post-cards per month. Give my love to Mum & Wink. I’ll write to you as often as possible. Goodnight Precious, All my love & kisses Your Vic xx
