Ward 14,
P.M. R.A.F. Hospital
Halton,
Bucks.

Dear Lefty,
Jack and I heard the grand news to-night when we came on duty and felt we must convey our warmest congratulations to you.
We fear we did not treat you with the respect due to a person winning such an honour but trust you will forgive us. If we could only re-live the past fortnight with our present knowledge we wouldn’t even touch the soles of your feet with a large pole!!! We hope that you are enjoying a greater measure of peace than we found it possible to allow you in Ward 14.
The best of luck and good health
[page break]
always.
Yours sincerely
W. Meakin & Jock.
