No.61 Squadron,
Royal Air Force,
ENGLAND.

18th March, 1944.

Dear Mr. Brander,

I write to express the profound sympathy of all members of this Squadron in the sad news we have recently received, through official channels, that your son is reported to have been killed in action with two other members of the crew. No news has yet been received of the remainder of the crew.

It may be some consolations for you to know that we are sure he died doing his duty to his utmost, and that he gave his life fearlessly in the fine cause of freedom for which we are all fighting.

Again assuring you of my deepest sympathy in your tragic loss.

Believe me,
Yours sincerely,
