My Dearest Mother, A few lines to let you know that am keeping pretty fit. Received your letter yesterday written on Dads seventieth.
I wrote a few months before wishing the usual thing. Spring seems to be here now & yesterday & today have been wonderful. Clear skies etc & such a contrast to the winter which is most distressing. The only thing is that Spring makes us long so much to be free & at home. However we all have high hopes for this year so cheerio dear all - keep smiling Your loving son Donald.
