Sir,
I am commanded by the Air Council to inform you that your service in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve expired on 6th September, 1953, and as you have intimated that you do not wish to extend it, it will be necessary for you to relinquish your commission. In conveying this information I am to thank you for the service you have rendered to the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
2. Relinquishment takes effect from 7th September, 1953, and the requisite notification will appear in the London Gazette in due course.
3. Your attention is drawn to the attached memorandum
