My darling Johnnie, As no telegram has come, I presume things have gone off alright, but anyway I'm going to try to ring up this afternoon & find out from sister, tho' I doubtless shan't be able to speak to you.
I had my last music lesson for some time today, Mme Fastre is to be away for 2 weeks after Xmas, so the next lesson will be about 3rd week in January. However she has given me plenty of work to do in the meantime, so I needn't be idle. It'll be nice to play on the decent piano at Salcombe
The crazy-paving man has written to say he hopes to deliver the stuff tomorrow or Thursday so I'm going to drop him a line telling him to keep it till after Xmas. If we had rain & then hard frost, the whole lot might be reduced to powder otherwise. I enclose letters from Bunty & Freeman. I have written thanking Bunty & declining her offer to have Frances.
2.10 pm. Your telegram has come it reads “operation over Hugh is fine John” I'm not sure what it means but take it that the operation was successful. Thanks so much for arranging for the wire to be sent anyway. All my love darling, Get well soon, Ursula
