Dear Madam,
I am forwarding herewith a letter from the Commanding Officer of your son, Flight Sergeant Francis Shamus Cahir.
You will notice that the letter was written before he was reported to be a prisoner of war, but as it contains details about the flight from which he was reported missing it is thought that it will be of interest to you.
Your son’s personal effects will be forwarded to Royal Air Force Central Depository for safe custody, and should any further communications be necessary regarding them, you will be advised by this Department.
Yours faithfully,
[signature]
