Dear David,
Very many thanks for your letter. I don't think you have been at all slow – I have been much slower to write and congratulate you on the bar to your DSO. Well done! You seem to be deputising for the whole family! At the moment I have been warned for immediate draft to the Far East. If I can't wangle out of it, I shall be getting married next week!
My release is alas a distant prospect as I am group 34. however I shall see you one day on Civvy St. Don't forget to send me lots of work! - otherwise Mary and I shall have to send the hat round to the family.
