Newspaper cuttings reporting the award of two Conspicuous Gallantry Medals, a Distinguished Flying Cross and four Distinguished Flying Medals to the crew that Robert Stott belonged to. Awarded for bringing a badly damaged Lancaster and seriously wounded crew back from an operation on Hanover. Two cuttings, the first shows the crew, head and shoulders with their names and decorations below. The image of Sergeant Hickling, the rear gunner, is missing. ENTIRE LANCASTER CREW DECORATED
By the decoration of three airman announced by the Air Ministry last night, the entire crew of a Lancaster Bomber have been honoured. They brought back their badly damaged plane from Hanover.
Yesterday’s awards were to Flying Officer A. W. Gadd (Gosport), D.F.C., and Sergeants K.N. Hicklin (Hounslow) and R. Stott (Falkirk), D.F.M. The other members of the crew – Pilot Officer A. J.S. Walker (Thornton Heath) and Sergeant S. Mav[missing letters] (Aylesham, Kent) C.G.M.; Sergeant R. Hebditch, D.F.M.; and Pilot Officer G.G. Whittle (Catford)
