Each force had its own zone of attack. Bomber Command went for main line viaducts near Paderborn and at Bielefeld, and for benzol plants at Scholven and [underlined] Osterfeld; [/underlined] the Eighth bombed east of the Rhine; the Ninth west of the Rhine and so on.

Lancasters, Halifaxes, Liberators, and Fortresses for the first time broke into groups of three or four aircraft and flew at 1,500 to 2,000 feet to pin-point railway bridges, junctions and sidings.
