RAF Chedburgh [entry point]

RAF Chedburgh was a Bomber Command station located in Suffolk 6 miles (10 kms) south west of Bury St Edmunds.

It was opened in September 1942 as part of 3 Group and the first occupant was 214 Squadron with Stirlings. 620 Squadron formed at the station in June 1943, also with Stirlings and stayed until November 1943. 214 Squadron was replaced at RAF Chedburgh in December 1943 by 1653 Heavy Conversion Unit, again with Stirlings. 218 Squadron Lancasters moved to RAF Chedburgh in December 1944.
