Memory of an Airman
You are not dead, you live in everything,
Sudden and swift, the glinting sea gull‘s wing,
Spray blowing from the curled top of a wave,
No, not for you the darkness of a grave,
Always for you the memory of light,
Stars marching through the legions of the night,
A slender moonbeam leaning like a lance,
A swinging tune that beckons me to dance,
In all things young and transient you fly,
Still gay and splendid, riding through the sky.
IVIE CRAIK HENDERSON.
