Description

RAF Castle Combe was an RAF training station located in Wiltshire 4 miles (7 kms) north west of Chippenham.

The station was opened in May 1941 as a practice landing ground for 9 Service Flying Training School at nearby RAF Hullavington. Later the station was upgraded and also used by 14 (Pilot) Advanced Flying Unit and 3 Flying Instructors School. The station was closed in 1948 and the land returned to the Castle Combe estate.
