TO COMMDORE[sic] SUPERINTENDENT, MALTA.
With reference to Admiralty Letter D. 13594/45 of 21st June, 1945 (1446) the following remarks regarding special items of work (other than on H. M. Ships) undertaken by this Department are submitted.
2. While the majority of men were employed on work in the Dockyard and various items for the Civil Government, parties were employed continuously on work of servicing guns of the defences and on special jobs at the Aerodromes. These latter included synchronizing and repairing guns of aircraft, bomb disposal, timing and setting parachute flares, fixing bombs and torpedoes on aircraft, lighting the flare path for night landings, salvage and clearance work of crashed aircraft, etc.
3. The more important items of work carried out in the Dockyard and for the Civil Government, Royal Air Force and Army, are shewn on the attached sheets. Approximately 2000 other requisitions by these Services on this Department have perforce been omitted.
