Newspaper cuttings.
The following pages are newspaper cuttings reporting the majority of the operations Dad took part in.
The easiest way to cross check them is to use the date Dad has written on the cutting. In some cases there are 2 reports cut out of different papers for the same operation.
Note the “Sgts Mess RAF Syerston” stamp on some of the cuttings.
Point of interest.
ED 593 Y ZN. Dad was the mid upper gunner on this aircraft, on what turned out to be his last operational flight on 22 October 1943. He had though flown on several other previous missions in the same aircraft.
Prior to him leaving to head up Operation Chastice [sic], it was Wg. Cdr. Guy Gibsons, then as CO. of 106 Sqn. he had nicknamed it Admiral Prune 2.
