Subject:- [underlined] 900473 Flight Sergeant Charles W. EYLES. (VR) (DFM) [/underlined]

It is proposed to arrange for the abovenamed [deleted] Officer [/deleted]/ airman to attend at Buckingham Palace on TUESDAY 4th DECEMBER, 1945. to receive the Distinguished Flying Medal. awarded to him vide the London Gazette dated 14th November, 1944. and it is requested that, subject to the exigencies of the service, he may be made available to attend accordingly at 10.15 hrs on that date. A railway warrant should be issued for this purpose, as requisite, and service dress should be worn.

2. The [deleted] officer [/deleted]/ airman should be notified that an individual summons will be addressed to him about ten days before the ceremony. On receipt of this summons the claim form accompanying the document should be completed where spectators tickets are required for relatives or friends. Children under seven years may not attend, the children over that age count as adults. In no circumstances whatever will it be possible to obtain tickets for more than [underlined] TWO [/underlined] guests. Third class railway warrants may be issued to the guests under the provisions of Air Ministry Order A.837/42.

3. If the summons has not been received seven days before the date of the ceremony the fact should be reported by telephone to the Air Ministry S.10(a), Adastral House, Kingsway, W.C.2, telephone Holborn 3434, Ext. 1250.

4. The attached Form 247 should be completed showing the [underlined] present rank [/underlined] of the above named, and confirming that he will attend on the date stated, and should be returned to me [underlined] immediately [/underlined] in a postagram envelope. Should Form 247 not be received by me [underlined] within 7 days [/underlined] of the date of this letter, THE CALLING WILL BE CANCELLED.

5. In the event of a posting of the above named being effected prior to the date of the ceremony, this letter should be forwarded by registered post to the [deleted] officer'[/deleted] s/airman's new Commanding Officer, and confirmation that such action has been taken should be notified to me by signal.

6. Any casualty affecting attendance at the Investiture should be notified to me [underlined] immediately [/underlined], and also any subsequent change of rank.
