[underlined] OUR JOAN. [/underlined]

To her “office chums” she’s still “their Joan”,
Although “changed” in name to “Wareing”
Her “husband” is the Air Force “boy”
Who’s won “medals” for “his daring”.

Being”one” of Doncaster Road’s” School boys
He ranks as “that” schools “hero”
No doubt they’ll wish him “ever joy”
That comes when “Love” draws nearer.

When “booked” on flights to “Germany”
May “Joan’s Love”be “his guide”
With “memories” of her “Loving Kiss”
When “she” became “His Bride”.

And when this “War” is over
And all the “Boys” come “home”
We’ll “cheer” Lieutenant Wareing
No doubt we’ll “cry for Joan”.
