Dear Lill:
By now you have probably given me up for lost, but here is an answer to your letter at last. Operations were cancelled to-night and I promised myself I would go straight to bed, but decided I just had to answer your letter to-night so excuse it please if it sounds short and sweet. We didn’t land from Stuttgart until 3 this morning and I was back up at noon preparing for to-nights do but luckily bad weather gave us an

excuse to go to bed.
I was glad to hear you had finished your leave off pleasantly and returned to base ready to start work again. I only wish I could return from leave feeling the same way. It usually takes me from one leave until the next one to get settled down to routine. Our leave this time has been put back to the 11th of April as Slim has probably told you. Oh well we will probably enjoy it that much more.
About the photograph you were

asking for. Well, Lill, I did not succeed in having it taken. I definitely will have one taken the next time I am in Grimsby and you shall be the first to receive one. O.K? In the meantime how about sending me one of yourself. I really mean it when I say I would like a picture of you Lill.
But for now I must have my beauty sleep (no remarks).
Say hello to your working partners and tell them what I said about the picture.

I am not always this slow at answering letters and would love to hear from you again soon – so adios
Sincerely
Ross
