Hawker Sea Fury.
Designed to meet air-force & navy requirements for a high performance fighter. The Fury was designed as a smaller & lighter version of the Tempest. Six prototypes were ordered with Rolls Royce Griffin inline & Bristol Centaurus radial engines, the first flying in September 1944. The R.A.F. ordered 200 but cancelled the contract at the end of the war. The Royal Navy pushed ahead with its Sea Fury, which first flew in February 1945 with the Centaurus engine. Altogether 939 were built.
