HUGE NAZI LOSSES IN 2 SOVIET PUSHES
169,000 Men Killed and 74,500 Captured by Russians
STALINGRAD TAKES 1,510 TANKS IN 3 WEEKS
A special Russian communiqué received in London at midnight stated that in the Soviet offensives on the Stalingrad and Moscow fronts during the past month a total of 169,000 Germans have been killed and 74,500 prisoners taken.
The Nazi casualties and losses in armour and equipment on the two fronts were:-
STALINGRAD. – 94,000 men killed; 72,400 taken prisoner; 1,510 tanks captured; 353 transport planes destroyed.
MOSCOW (CENTRAL) FRONT. – 75,000 troops killed; 2,100 taken prisoner.

DRIVEN FROM STRONG EL AGHEILA POSITIONS
MORE SUCCESSES FOR SUBMARINES
ENEMY SUPPLY SHIPS SUNK
Rommel has been driven out of his strong positions at El Agheila and is in retreat to the west, it was officially stated in a message received from Cairo this morning.
Official reports on two successive days announce important successes by British submarines against Axis shipping in the Mediterranean. An armed merchant cruiser is among the vessels sunk.
In the air a large enemy convoy has been smashed by our fighters, and among the machines destroyed were eight enemy transport aircraft.
Two more enemy thrusts with tanks and infantry in Tunisia have been repelled.
