Dear
Thank you most sincerely for your very interesting and instructive memorandum. I fear it has been in the post office here for nearly three weeks and that therefore I am very late in answering.
There is little doubt to my mind that your arguments and the conclusions you come to are entirely right. There is also little doubt that the operational efficiency of Bomber Command can be greatly enhanced by the maintenance in good working order of the Automatic Pilot.
I have already put the point to higher authority verbally, and I am now forwarding your memorandum with the strongest possible recommendation. I feel sure that it will result in great improvement in the service attitude to “George”.
As to the last paragraph of your letter I can only say that I have never had so much co-operation and help before as I did from you and your team. As you probably know, the work you put in directly contributed to one of the most important air operations of the whole war.

It is also quite clear that the method of direct approach is the best and the quickest, where the problem is one of liaison.
I hope very much to see you again before long, and in the meantime, my very best wishes.
Yours
GLC
