[underlined] IMMEDIATE INTERPRETATION REPORT NO. K.1865 [/underlined]

LOCALITY: LIMOGES (Soc. Gnome and Rhone and the Ateliers Industriels de l'Air)

[underlined] PERIOD UNDER REVIEW [/underlined]

These photographs were taken following the attack on the night of 8/9 Feb. 44 by aircraft of Bomber Command.

[underlined[] PROVISIONAL STATEMENT ON DAMAGE [/underlined]

These photographs, which show most of the target through a gap in the clouds and are of a quality and scale not permitting any detailed assessment, show severe damage by fire to Soc. Gnome and Rhone and the Ateliers Industriels de l'Air, a modern factory specialising in repairs to aero-engines.
The large fire seen on the night photographs has destroyed most of the S.W. half of the works. More than half of the main machine shops of Ateliers Industriels de l'Aire have been destroyed and the stores of Soc. Gnome and Rhone are probably damaged, while there is possibility of damage to other buildings.
