Title
Statement of Marcello Papini about T R Lunt, James Wingtorm, and S F Kerrigan
Description
Marcello Papini claims he helped some Allied servicemen, including General T R Lunt from Liverpool, James Wingtorm from Epping, Essex, and S F Kerrigan from Liverpool. Marcello managed not to be apprehended by the Germans after the Armistice and then - when he knew about Allied soldiers on the run - decided to help in defiance of draconian penalties established by German authorities. He was recaptured by the Florentine black brigades, managed to evade, and resumed to help Allied escapees. At the end of the war they reported his efforts to the command - Marcello received 5000 Lire and a certificate of thankfulness (11806-20983).
