Description

RAF Dunkeswell was a station used by the United States Army Air Force located 5 miles (8 kms) north of Honiton in Devon.

Opened in 1943 the station was originally intended for Fighter Command and then Coastal Command but was instead transferred to the United States Army Air Force. B-24s and a few Catalinas flew from RAF Dunkeswell on anti-submarine operations in the Bay of Biscay. Post-war the station transferred back to the RAF but was closed in 1948.
