Dear John!

Very very many thanks for your last nice and long letter. You are wrong, I found it quite easy. I wanted to write for 2 o'clock but I lost so much time at the doctor's, that could not find a while to prepare the letter soomer [sic]. It will be ready for to-morrow at 10. Why were you sad to-day? How did you please the little thing I have sent you?
