RAF Kirkham was a trades and armament training station located in Lancashire mid way between Preston and Blackpool.

The station opened in 1940 and was a training camp for the RAF covering 21 trades and 86 different courses. It was the RAF’s main armament training centre and by 1945 72,000 service personnel had been trained including armourers, flight mechanics, fitter airframes and fitter engines. At the end of the war the station was also used as an aircrew demobilisation centre. The site is now used as a prison.
