They say there's a touch of class in the Air Force. The 602nd B Squadron of the Auxiliary is certainly attracting a fine type of young man from every walk of life to the training centre at Abbotsinch, Paisley.
The commander of the squadron is the Marquis of Douglas and Clydesdale.
There are about 140 auxiliaries and fifty of a staff.
The squadron fly Hawker-Hart A Bombers (shown in bottom photo).
Here are some of the Auxiliaries who give up their week-ends to flying:- Back Row (left to right) – FLIGHT-SERGEANT W. WILKINSON (engineer), R. HORNSBY (salesman), J. BROWN (clerk), J. PATON, junior, (clerk), J. HUTTON (motor mechanic), A. ROXBURGH (draughtsman), J. BRYSON (clerk), A. KIRKPATRICK (salesman), CORPORAL A.J. MACDONALD (motor mechanic), and SGT. P.C. GEARY (electrician).
