Forever

How hearts must yearn to see them now
Dismiss the years that have gone and know
It was all a dream and all is good.
Oh if only we could, if only we could.

Our only comfort, small though it be
To visit afar – to travel and see
Some piece of stone, all gleaming white
His name upon it, shining bright.

Oh my darling boy, so here you are
I've searched the world, I've travelled far
Worried and wondered about your fate
To find you here at this late date.

For years and years as time has flown
I only wish that I had known
How it happened you came to be here
My need so great to hold you near.

Can I rest now that I know all this?
Do I have peace – to live in bliss?
Oh no it's not like that at all
Forever, forever you'll hear my call.
