TWO STUTTGART RAIDS IN A NIGHT

1,000-PLANE ATTACK
Planes of R.A.F. Bomber Command twice raided Stuttgart on Thursday night. The glow of large fires, burning about 4 1/2 hours after the first raid, were seen as the second force swept in.

It was one of two main objectives, against which Bomber Command sent over 1,000 planes. Nuremberg was the other. An attack was also made on Wiesbaden, and objectives elsewhere in Western Germany were bombed.

Night fighters of Bomber Command supported the bombers and attacked airfields. At least four enemy aircraft were destroyed. Intruder patrols were flown by fighters of Air Defence of Great Britain. Intruder patrols were flown by fighters of Air Defence of Great Britain. Nine aircraft of Bomber Command are missing.

RAF Pound Flushing
Bomber Command Lancasters, with an escort of Spitfires, smashed at Nazi gun positions near Flushing, yesterday, for the loss of only one bomber.

Yet another German H.Q. building on the Low Countries front was left in flames by rocket-firing typhoons when they swept over the rain- and cloud-covered battlefields.

This time it was a castle near Swolle. A flight-lieutenant who took part in the attack said the formation discovered the chateau through a hole in the clouds and made two runs over the target.
"The building seemed to be burning pretty well when we left," he added.

Throughout yesterday Achtungs were reporting raiders over the Reich.
