Dear Sgt. Smith,
Many thanks for your post card and I am indeed glad that you were able to save your life with an Irvin Chute.
I have much pleasure in welcoming you as a member of the Caterpillar Club, and will certainly do as you have requested with your Caterpillar Pin, as soon as we are able to obtain one for you, although I regret to say that there is a possibility that this may not be until after the war, due to supply restrictions.
Enclosing your Membership Card herewith, with our compliments and best wishes, I am,
Yours sincerely,
