THREE GREAT BRIDGE AT COLOGNE UNDER WATER

An aerial view of Cologne, showing its three bridges half submerged in the Rhine. These are (left to right) the Hohenzollern, the Hange-Brucke (suspension bridge) and the Sud-Brucke (south bridge). In the centre is the main railway station, now in ruins. (Picture on P.5.) Round it are acres of wreckage. To the right is the cathedral, one of the few buildings left intact in this city of desolation.
