Blohm Und Voss BV 155.
This aircraft started life as the Messerschmitt Me 155, but due to the many commitments of the Messerschmitt company the design was passed to Blohm Und Voss. After examination it was found the design contained too many weaknesses, & as a consequence it was largely redesigned by Blohm Und Voss, being designated BV 155. Three prototypes were ordered, the first making its maiden flight on September 1st 1944 powered by a DB 603A engine. Blohm Und Voss were still not satisfied with the aircraft & proposed a revised design known as the BV 155C, a pre-production batch of 30 being ordered. The development schedule called for the completion of the 155C-01, C-02, C-03 & C-04 between April & June 1945, but assembly had not commenced when the Finkenwerder factory was over-run by the Allies.
Blohm Und Voss.
By 1932 Blohm und Voss had had some slight contact with aircraft manufacture as sub contractors to Junkers in producing sub-assemblies for the Ju 52/3. Blohm und Voss were Germany’s largest ship manufacturers. Blohm und Voss responded with alacrity when it was proposed to encourage shipbuilders to establish subsidiaries for the manufacture of aircraft.
The first product from Blohm und Voss was the HA 135 primary training bi-plane. During 1934 the HA136, a single seater all metal advanced training monoplane appeared. It was however confined to two prototypes.

In 1933 the German authorities issued an interim requirement for a dive-bomber that would serve as ‘flying artillery’ support for the new Panzer divisions in place of conventional artillery. Blohm und Voss offered the Ha 137, an all metal monoplane with a low set gull wing, fixed landing gear & an open cockpit. No order was placed & the six prototype aircraft were used for experimental purposes.
