RAID SMASHED PEENEMUNDE

‘Thanks’: Sinclair

Sir Archibald Sinclair, Air Minister, has congratulated Bomber Command on the “outstanding success” of their “shattering attack” last Tuesday on the Peenemunde research and radiolocation factory, Germany’s biggest development centre for air defences.

In a message to Sir Arthur Harris, Chief of Bomber Command, the Air Minister says: “Photographs prove the outstanding success of your attack.

“The accuracy of the bombing, in spite of a smoke screen and of fierce fighting over the target, testifies to the skill and determination of your crews and to the effectiveness of your planning and tactical methods.”
