READ all QUESTIONS and INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY before commencing to answer, and give concise answers, tabulated where possible.

Total Marks – 100. Time allowed – 1 hour.
(FOUR questions ONLY to be answered. All questions carry equal marks)

1. If a = 1, b = -2, c = 3, d = -4, find the value of

2. Plot the graph of [equation] , and [equation], obtaining at least five points on each graph. Find the coordinates of the point where they meet.

3. Solve the following equations:-

4. [deleted] A and B are two points in the same horizontal plane and in the same straight line with the foot of a tower, CD. From B, the elevation of the top, C, of the tower is 230; from A it is 390. Find the height of the tower, and its distance from A. [/deleted]

5. Under a head H feet of water, a pipe L yards long and d inches in diameter will deliver g gallons of water per minute.

4. A and B are two points in the same horizontal plane and in the same straight line with the foot of a tower, CD. The distance between A and B is 100 feet. From B, the elevation of the top, C, of the tower is 230; from A it is 390. Find the height of the tower, and its distance from A.
