Dear Mam & Dad,
As you will see I have got a new address but I do not think I shall be here long. We came here last Saturday and up to now it has been OK. although we are not flying: as usual we are on ground school.
When we do start flying it will be on a real aircraft and all the guys say they are pretty good kites.
The mess here is not so good as at Lindholme and the billets are pretty crowded but I guess they will be O.K. as we do not expect to stay here long.
[page break]
I was pretty unlucky last Saturday I did not think we would be coming here until Sunday in which case I could have got home on Saturday evening. I do hope the party went down alright.
Last night I went into Lincoln to see Bing Crosby in “Going my Way” it’s quite a good film, very amusing in places. As it was cold I wore my great coat for the first time. Johny Rae and I really looked toffs and we went into the Officers’ Club down there to see how the high society was

getting along.
I received my pyjamas and laundry last Friday. Apparently the laundry had been there a day or two but they had not put my name on the list. Don’t worry about pyjamas I have lot of coupons but I do not get chance to get out when the shops are open. By the way my money has not come through yet but when it does I shall be able to see about yours. I look like having to let you get me some money out of the bank if it does not come through soon. If you need any you

can get it out of the bank to. [sic]
I guess thats all for now,
Remember me to all
Your loving son,
Lewis
