Dear Mam & Dad,
I received your letter yesterday saying you were surprised to see that I had moved well if you look at the address you will see I have moved again since then and I am now up in north Lincoln not far from Grimsby.
This station is quite good especially the mess which is about the best I have been in. The main trouble is the fact that the billets and the mess are miles away from the field so the bike has lots of work to do.
I was glad to hear my Grandma & Grandad are alright and I do hope
[page break]
that my dad’s eye is O.K. now.
You say Stanley was [deleted] hop [/deleted] home on leave I am sorry I did not get to see him but I should be home in a week or so an [sic] my leave. I received your letter saying Hats’ did not manage to get for his birthday, I was very sorry but maybe he will be home when I am on my leave I should like to see him.
No I have not received any money yet although I have had a letter from the bank so it should not be long now. If you could though would you send me £10 as I owe the mess £2-10-0 and at the moment I have not got a cent.
Don’t forget if you need any mony [sic] to go and get it from the bank.
All the crew are getting on O.K.
[page break]
and we have had a crew photograph taken but we have not got the proofs yet. I will let you have one as soon as I get them.
Since I have been here I have only been out once to Grimsby and then I saw a film I had seen before but the cinema on the camp is quite good and the film changes three times a week so we are quite well off for entertainment.
I guess thats all for now
Remember me to all
Your loving son
Lewis
