Dear Mam & Dad,
Sorry I have not written for a while but I have been night flying for the last week and it is about eight days since I left the camp.
After I left on Wednesday morning I got to Rotherham and I had to wait forty minutes for the bus but a car pulled up and gave me a lift right into Doncaster so I got there before the previous bus which left twenty minutes earlier. When I did arrive at camp no one knew I had been away as the parade had been cancelled owing to rain.
Since then we have been very busy and have hardly had a
[page break]
minute to spare and the last time I was off the camp was a week last Sunday but I am going out tonight with all the crew.
Flying in these kites is not very difficult but it gets very boring after six hours or so continuous straight and level flying. On some cross countries it gets very cold so you can bet we wear all our clothing underwear and all.
Last Sunday morning at 5 A.M. I past [sic] over our house I was not very high and I could pick all the main road out quite easily with the new dim out lighting.
I got your letter last Thursday but I have not got the laundry yet: I hope it is not long getting here.
P.T.O.

I have also had a letter from Hats telling me his party was put off until this coming Saturday but I am not sure I will get away although I shall see what I can do.
I guess thats all for now
Remember me to all
Your loving son
Lewis
P.S. Could you let me have my other pyjamas?
