91 Squadron [entry point]
Description
91 Squadron was a originally a Fighter Command squadron. It formed in January 1941 and operated Spitfires. It undertook a number of different roles including reconnaissance and fighter sweeps over northern France. It was assigned to the Second Tactical Air Force during the Normandy campaign but subsequently used as defence against V-1 attacks in southern England and for long range bomber escort duties.
