Whereas We, Neptune, Lord of the Sea, Equatorial Realm, give this as a Royal Patent, under our Sign Manual,
TO CERTIFY THAT,
[handwritten] P. J. Hogan [handwritten]
has this day visited our Royal Domains on board S.S.: “MYSTERIOUS”, wherein before our Imperial Court he has received the Ancient Form and Initiation duly necessary to become our Loyal subject. Should he fall overboard, We charge all Eels, Sharks, Dolphins., Whales., Suckers., Crabs., Lobsters., and all other living things of the Sea to abstain from eating, or otherwise maltreating him:
We grant him Free Right and Entry into our Royal Domains, and drcree[sic] that all not hitherto enrolled among our subjects shall treat him with due respects.
Given under our hand at Our Court on the Equator, this Twenty Eighth Day of FEBRUARY, One Thousand and Nine Hundred and Forty Four
