As pilot and captain of aircraft, Warrant Officer McCREDIE has participated on many attacks on targets far into enemy country. He has consistently pressed home his attacks with great resolution, often in the face of much opposition.
On one occasion, when attacking enemy shipping at a low level his aircraft was hit by fire from the enemy’s defences. One engine was put out of action and a large fire started in the aircraft. members of the crew fought the flames which, after a time, were put out and throughout this trying period Warrant Officer McCREDIE displayed the greatest coolness having remained at the controls and gained height. He afterwards flew his badly damaged aircraft a considerable distance to an airfield.
This pilot’s example of skill and resolution was in keeping with that which he has shown throughout his tour of operational duty.
