The above mentioned N.C.O. Aircrew was awarded the immediate award of the Distinguished Flying Medal in accordance with Bomber Command Signal dated 5th March, 1944.
The citation reads as follows: -
2216040 Sergeant Stanley Bradford has taken part in many attacks on important targets in Germany, including 13 attacks on Berlin.
He is a cool and courageous gunner and has always been an efficient member of his crew.
On the 30th/31st of January, 1944, and the 15th/16th of February, 1944, while carrying out attacks on Berlin he has engaged enemy aircraft with accurate fire and jointly with the rear gunner has damaged one enemy aircraft and probably destroyed.
He displayed a sound knowledge of tactics on both these occasions, his coolness and courage undoubtedly saved his aircraft.
