My dear Mum & Dad, I have received quite a pile of letters this week, & am now up to date, to the end of August. Regarding myself, - I don’t think I have changed very much, except, perhaps a little older and a little thinner – however I doubt very much if you will notice it when I come home. - By the way, my exam has not turned up yet, - if the war finishes before I get it, may I sit, when I get home? Very glad to hear about Mr & Mrs Rose, - The Hot Toddy is ideal for colds and I only wish I could get some here! – Just in case I catch cold. I have had two letters from Joy, and I am very glad to hear that she and Clive had a good time during the Summer, - with swimming and tennis. – re my raquet [sic] – I last saw it in the mess before I came here. As I believe I said in an earlier letter, I would very much like to go “HOME” to Minehead after the war, but this must not influence you, regarding any advantageus [sic] move that you may have in mind. I am very gratified to notice the old Bank balance creeping up, - please continue to let me know the state of affairs. We are having fine chilly weather at the moment & I am still quite fit. of my P.O.W money I have refunded about forty pounds to date, - but I don’t know how long it takes to come through. Glad to hear about Peter Bennett, how is Mike Floyd doing – still ok. I hope. How did you enjoy “Monksilver”. Must stop now, love to all. John.
M.
