My dear Mum and Dad, This letter is mainly in reply to Dad’s of Sept eleventh and Aug twenty eight[sic] No more parcels have turned up yet, nor have I received my Spanish exam. With regard to my post war work, I have quite a few ideas in mind, some involving travel, - but those can be discussed when I get home. If possible, I would certainly jump at taking my Bsc. But I am afraid the stipulation about teaching afterwards would dampen my ardour considerably! If however I could take it while with the firm, at the Birbeck, I think I would jump at the chance. The other day I received the American edition of KODAK’S “How to take good pictures” it is very interesting and I now definitely have my eye on their new 35mm Ektra – If you can get hold of one, I have a definite customer lined up – this is the gem. So it will be an investment if you can do it. We are still on half rations, but managing to jog along OK. As well as Spanish, I am keeping up and increasing my knowledge [sic]cine’ and still photography.
I have ordered some books through the YMCA, but I dont[sic] know when they will arrive. Your bridge sounds good fun, but I think mine is more scientific. Re.Exeter or London [indecipherable word] agree with Gibbs, but so much depends on how are demobilised after all this We are doing “MAJOR BARBARA” as a radio play tomorrow, it will be quite a success – I hope. Must stop. Love to all John
