Dear Lewis

You will think me a long time answering your welcome letter we received last Saturday morning, but with you saying you was writing at the weekend and nothing as [sic] come up to press we thought you must be getting posted. Any way I thought I would just drop you a line then write again later

every one calling me for not writing before we were all disappointed of you not being able to get last week end Dad was real in the dumps’ so he went fire watching on the Saturday night only 6.30 while 10.30.

How is your cough and cold Lewis I do hope they are better Dad as [sic] had a bad one this week I expected him coming home one day this week as it had got on his chest.

Our Charlie is here with me now he as been a[missing letter]

home all week bad we have just been watching a Lancaster going over then wheeling round and coming back we had a Manchester on Tuesday night just skim the slates we have never had one so low before every one turn out holding their heads on, it did cause a real sensation.

Our Sidney was playing for the second team yesterday he was playing in shoes a size too small so you can guess what kind of a game it was he lost his dinner ticket so he went up to Bents Green and brought two teacakes’ a round of scone’s so did not [indecipherable word] Auntie Clara

as just arrive to fetch the usual menue [sic] and is going to post this at the same time she sends all the best from all of them and hoping to see you soon Dad Rene and Sidney send their love
